Richard Stone founded The Mobile FD in 2010.  They provide SMEs and organisations of all sizes with highly experienced outsourced Finance Directors trained to analyse the business’s numbers in their entirety, revealing what’s working, what’s not, and how best to drive the business forward. This allows entrepreneurs to efficiently and effectively understand the performance of their business with a strategic partner at a sensible cost.

Having obtained a double first class honours degree in Marine Biology & Oceanography, Richard became a Chartered Accountant qualifying with what is now Ernst & Young in 1990. He has had a variety of roles in industry and has been Finance Director of several companies ranging from a division of General Electric with a turnover of around £120 million all the way to a management consultancy he owned with two colleagues which had a turnover of under £1 million. He has experienced business in good times and bad and has spent his career so far at the sharp end – where it can hurt – which has given him a real commercial edge.

Richard believes that an understanding of, and comfort and confidence with the numbers generated by business is a vital part of an entrepreneur’s armoury, which allows them to make better decisions and enhance performance. He runs intimate workshops tailored to the business owner to demystify, enlighten and introduce delegates to the power of the numbers they already have in their organisation.

In his personal life Richard remains enthusiastic about the environment and enjoys walking, sailing and diving when time allows.
